The story of Two Guns is interesting. The guitar player Bob Williams is my uncle (Dad's Brother). After meeting and marrying his first wife at Woodstock bob toured with Chubby Checker and later Two Guns was formed playing dives in and around our hometown Lawton, Oklahoma. When they got the reord deal with Capricorn and recorded the album They got screwed and never got a dime for the album. Bob later cut off the end of one of his fingers working construction and gave up on his music career. He went on to a successful career as a commercial construction executive, but tragically died in a motorcycle accident outside Kansas City at the age of 44. He left his second wife Joanie and two daughters Rachel and Elizabeth. When you buy this album you are not supporting the band members in anyway.
Hello Thanks for that interesting bit of history. I'm sorry to hear of your uncle Bob's death. Unfortunately Alot of guys back then got screwed over by there record company's And are no longer or never was making any money off there own recordings. My name is Ryan from Southern California and a record collector. Upon a random purchase a few years ago, I got these two reel-to-reels with some material they recorded in Hollywood in 1971 or so. An ex-coworker who works at a country music studio burned them onto CDR for me. It's pretty much country rock mixed with light psychedelia. It's not really my cup of tea, but that fact that sheets of yellowed college notebook rule with song lyrics written in pen by Mike Sconse was included in the 3M box, it was a good buy. Ryan in Southern California, The reel-to-reels you purchased were recorded in Colorado at a recording studio built for Elton John called Carribou Ranch...I know this as I am Bob Williams widow, Joni Williams. Mike Sconce wrote most of the songs and my late husband and another guitarist by the name of Kenny Barker wrote the others. It has touched my heart to know that people out there have collected the Balls out Album not only in vinyl but in 8 track and cassettes. I do have many of Two Guns songs that have been digitally remastered by a more recent friend and musician that Bob played with here in Kansas City by the name of Greg Hockett. If anyone is interested in purchasing this very rare CD collection of the late and great Bob Williams and his band Two Guns you may contact me at joniawilliams@comcast.net I have had these for about 9 years now. He did die in a motorcycle accident on May 21, 1999 about 3 hours east of Kansas City, Mo in Rolla, Mo. He was a great musician, a loving husband and father. Check out their songs on youtube! Two Guns is one of the best southern rock n roll bands to ever be signed and unfortunately they never got their shot at the music industry. But the music they made plays on in the Southern Rock N Roll world!
